HTC Desire X

HTC come a long way since its first ever portrait QWERTY slider phone Blue Angel (O2 xda IIs, Vodafone v1620, Sprint PPC6600, etc.) circa 2004, the legacy of which is carried by the TyTN, Touch Pro, G1, myTouch 3G Slide, and many more sliders albeit in landscape form. The cumulative phone-building expertise leads us to the Desire Z, As far as hardware goes, the two Androids are practically identical twins; but for software, the AWS-free Desire Z comes tattooed with HTC's Sense UI,If you've already read our G2 review, then you should be adequately familiar with the Desire Z's hardware -- it's the same ID, just with different branding below the earpiece and on the backside, along with some minor tweaks with the keyboard's layout. Compared to the Desire and the 7 Mozart which also pack the same 3.7-inch 480 x 800 SLCD, they all have a similar footprint on the front, although the Desire Z looks more intimidating with its larger optical trackpad, straighter sides, sharper edges, and brushed aluminum bezel. Similarly, the screens on these phones are equally as sharp and vibrant with decent viewing angles, although obviously not as vivid as AMOLED screens. The capacitive touch buttons below the screen could be a turn-off for some users -- aside from the fact that they'll never be as assuring as physical buttons, it also took some getting used to due to the smaller headroom for our fingers, especially when compared to the Nexus One's. The remaining three buttons are all physical: an easily accessible power button at the top right corner (near the 3.5mm headphone jack), a volume rocker on the left, and a camera shutter button towards the bottom on the right side. If we must make a quibble here, we'd like to have the volume rocker shifted slightly further up to better accommodate our left thumb, HTC got it just right with the Desire and Nexus One

LG Optimus L9

There will soon be a new Optimus L-Series smartphone on the prowl, as LG has just announced the Optimus L9 as a followup to its Optimus L3, L5 and L7 handsets. This series is viewed by LG as a budget lineup that places an emphasis on style, and the L9 will undoubtedly be the leader of the pack, as it boasts both a dual-core 1GHz CPU and a large, 4.7-inch IPS display. The phone will be outfitted with Android 4.0, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a beefy 2,150mAh battery.
New software is also set to ship with the Optimus L9, which includes both a redesigned keyboard and a language translation app. The new keyboard is dubbed the My Style Keypad, which allows users to adjust the key placement for easier one-handed typing  like we've seen in Android 4.0 for the Galaxy Note -- along with a separated layout for landscape view (that you can peek in the gallery below). Meanwhile, the language translation service is dubbed QTranslator, which leverages OCR to translate sentences and phrases from 44 different languages into 64 native languages. There's no word yet on pricing or availability, though we'll be sure to let you know the moment those final tidbits become known.

LG Prada 3.0

LG and Prada have history. Back in 2007 the pair got together and spawned a mobile phone called, well, the LG Prada. Two years later, there was a second outing, in the shape of the LG KF900 Prada.
Almost like clockwork - albeit a rather slow clock - two years later and we have a third LG Prada handset, the PRADA Phone by LG 3.0.

Obviously, the LG Prada 3.0 has a lot of emphasis on stylish hardware design. There's also a rather nifty interface skin that's been applied to Android 2.3, and the general specs aren't too shabby either.
At first glance, this is a handset that ticks a lot of boxes. Dig deep, and we find there is a little bit of style over substance creeping in. But we'll come to that.
The Prada Phone by LG 3.0 is a big, really neatly designed handset. With a 4.3-inch screen and seriously big top and bottom screen bezels, this is a sizable phone for your pocket. Most people will have trouble reaching across the screen for one-handed use.
